The author announces, without proof, several results on extension of operators in a J-space, i.e. a Krein space H. Let V be a closed continuous (not everywhere defined) J-isometric operator. A continuous everywhere defined operator T is called a J-biextension of V if it is an extension of V and its J-adjoint is that of \(V^{-1}\). It is shown that there is a J-extension \(V_ 0\) with closed range such that the kernel of either \(V_ 0\) or its J-adjoint is trivial. V always admits a \(\hat J- \)unitary extension when (J,H) is imbedded into a suitable \(\hat J-\)space. Another extension problem is this. A function T(\(\mu)\) with values in continuous (everywhere defined) operators, is said to belong to the class \(\Pi\) if it is analytic at \(\mu =0\) and there is a \(J_ 1\)-space \(H_ 1\) and a \(J_ 1\oplus J\)-unitary operator \(T=[T_{ij}]^ 2_{i,j=1}\) on \(H_ 1\oplus H_ 2\) (with \(H_ 2=H)\) such that \(T(\mu)=T_{22}+\mu T_{21}(I-\mu T_{11})^{-1}T_{12}\) in a neighborhood of 0. It is shown that every function T(\(\mu)\), analytic at \(\mu =0\), belongs to \(\Pi\). Here \((J_ 1,H_ 1)\) can be a Pontrjagin space \(\Pi_{\kappa}\) with \(0\leq \kappa <\infty\) if and only if the operator-kernel \([(J- T^*(\mu)JT(\nu))/1-{\bar \mu}\nu]_{\mu,\nu}\) has no more than \(\kappa\) negative squares and the numbers of negative eigenvalues of \(J- T^*(0)JT(0)\) and \(J-T(0)JT^*(0)\) are not larger than \(\kappa\). These results are applied to a complete description of generalized resolvents of a J-symmetric operator.
