A nonsingular real algebraic curve A may divide or not divide its complexification \({\mathbb{C}}A\). In the first case A divides \({\mathbb{C}}A\) into two connected parts. Their natural orientations define on A (as their common boundary) two opposite orientations, which are called the complex orientations of the curve. They were introduced by \textit{V. A. Rokhlin} in Usp. Mat. Nauchn. 33, No.5(203), 77-89 (1978; Zbl 0437.14013). There for the case of plane projective curves Rokhlin proved a restriction on the position of components of A endowed with the complex orientation on \({\mathbb{R}}P^ 2\). In the paper under review the author describes a generalization of this Rokhlin's restriction to the case of dividing curves on an arbitrary nonsingular real projective algebraic surface. In general case the author's formula involve new complex topological characteristics of the curve, but in some special cases (in particular, for curves on quadrics and plane) they are inessential.
