The author has proved the following two theorems: 1. The displacement problem of nonlinear elastodynamics, when the elastic body is unbounded and the elasicity tensor is uniformly elliptic, has at most one solution. 2. The displacement problem of linear elasticity, when the elastic body is nonhomogeneous and the elastic tensor is strongly elliptic, has at most one solution. A weighted form of Garding's inequality has been used to prove both the theorems.
