Study of age dependent half-life of iodine in man: A reinforcement- depletion urn model (Q1063531)

An urn contains balls of s different colors. The problem of the reinforcement of a specified color and random depletion of balls has been considered by the second author [ibid. 43, 327-340 (1981; Zbl 0455.60016) and ibid. 45, 1-9 (1983; Zbl 0505.60016)]. In this paper, the theory is applied to the biological age dependent half-life of radioactive iodine in man; the data of \textit{M. J. Cook} and \textit{W. S. Snyder} [Age dependence of the biological half-life of iodine and cesium in man. ORNL- 3849, 190-193 (1965)] is used. The intake of radioactive iodine and its retention subsequently is studied.
