Let \({\mathfrak Vect}\) be the Lie algebra of all vector fields on a circle, \({\mathfrak V}={\mathbb{C}}z\oplus (\oplus {\mathbb{C}}e_ n)\), \(n\in {\mathbb{Z}}\), be the complexification of the central extension of \({\mathfrak Vect}\) by z, M(h,c) be the Verma module over \({\mathfrak V}\) generated by v, where \(e_ 0v=hv\), \(zv=cv\). It is proved that a positive definite \({\mathfrak V}\)-invariant Hermitian form exists on M(h,c) if and only if either \(h>0\), \(c>1\), or \(h=n^ 2/4\), \(c=1\).
