In this paper a procedure is proposed to find eigenfunctions and eigenvalues for elastic stability problems defined in complicated domains. The procedure is based on the Schwarz alternating method. The proposed method is suitable for application when the domain (shape of elastic body) is complicated while reasonably good solutions for overlaping subdomains are available. In this reviewer opinion the proposed method may have interesting applications for the study of elastic stability with and without imperfections.
