This is the third part of a series of four [Part I, cf. Pac. J. Math. 93, 201-235 (1981; Zbl 0465.20020), Part II, J. Algebra 83, 293-348 (1983; Zbl 0513.20012), Part IV, Math. Z. 186, 435-464 (1984; Zbl 0523.20018)]. It is shown that in a minimal counterexample the set of \(\alpha\)- invariant Sylow p-subgroups P with \(C_ P(\alpha^ i)\neq 1\) for all \(\alpha^ i\neq 1\) generates a soluble subgroup. The central concept for the proof by contradiction is the n-p type defined in part two describing the situation together with some other Sylow q-subgroup.
