Let \(p\) be a prime. A group \(G\) containing a non-trivial \(p\)-element is called a pd-group. If, furthermore, every proper pd-subgroup of \(G\) is distinct from its normalizer in \(G\), then \(G\) is called a pdN-group. The main theorem in this paper characterizes periodic pdN-groups. Let \(G\) be a periodic group. Then \(G\) is a pdN-group if and only if either \(G\) satisfies the normalizer condition, or \(G\) is a semidirect product \(G=G_ p\leftthreetimes H\), where \(G_ p\) is a finite elementary abelian \(p\)-group, \(H\) has non non-trivial elements of order \(p\) and satisfies the normalizer condition, and \(G/C_ H(G_ p)\) is a finite Frobenius group with elementary abelian kernel and cyclic complement.
