In this paper cylindrically invariant solutions of the magnetohydrodynamic equations for an ideal compressible fluid are considered. It is found that the reduced system of equations remains Hamiltonian with the corresponding energy function (Hamiltonian) being form-invariant. However, the resulting Poisson bracket, though of the same Lie-algebraic type, is slightly twisted by a stretching automorphism, a result whose underlying nature the author finds puzzling.
