Let \(\phi\) : \(V\to W\) be a differentiable map between compact differentiable manifolds. We shall say that \(\phi\) has weak algebraic approximation if it is possible to find two structures of real algebraic varieties \(V_ a, W_ a\) on V, W such that \(y: V_ a\to W_ a\) can be approximated by algebraic maps \(\phi_ n: V_ a\to W_ a\). Benedetti and Dedó have proved that for any \(n\geq 11\) there exist a map \(\phi\) : \(V_{n-2}\to W_ n\) that has no weak algebraic approximation. In this paper the above counterexemple is used to have some information about the strong Nash conjecture (any compact, connected, differentiable manifold V has an algebraic structure birationally equivalent to \(P_ n({\mathbb{R}}))\). - A positive answer is given if dim \(V\leq 2.\) In the last part of the paper some positive answer to the problem of finding a weak algebraic approximation is given in the case of a Lie group.
