A singularity set, as understood by the authors, is a bounded, relatively closed subset X of \(D\times {\mathbb{C}}\) \((D=unit\) disc) with pseudoconvex complement in \(D\times {\mathbb{C}}\). Such sets appear in a variety of contexts, including complex convexity, uniform algebras and spectral theory. The authors continue studying the problem, posed in Part I of the paper under review [see Pac. J. Math. 104, 263-268 (1983; Zbl 0543.32005)]: To what extend singularity sets can be approximated by polynomial subvarieties of \(D\times {\mathbb{C}}.\) The main theorem aims at the situation when the sections \(X_ z=\{w\in {\mathbb{C}}:(z,w)\in X\},\) \(z\in D\), are totally disconnected, but its assumptions are more general. Namely, if each section \(X_ z\) can be covered by n discs of radius r with centers distant from each other by 8r at least, provided \(z\in \Omega\), an open subset of D, then a polynomial variety is constructed such that its distance to X (in the vertical direction w) is relatively small, the distance is estimated in terms of n, r and harmonic mesure of \(\partial \Omega \setminus \partial D.\) In the reviewer's optinion this results, while technical, will generate many extensions and applications.
