Some fixed point theorems on metric and Banach spaces (Q1067637)

In the first section we give a few common fixed point results for two self mappings of a complete metric space, which generalize the results of \textit{B. K. Ray} [Fundam. Math. 94, 221-229 (1977; Zbl 0345.54044)] and \textit{M. R. Tasković} [Publ. Inst. Math., Beograd, N. Ser. 20(34), 231- 242 (1976; Zbl 0368.54017)]. We drop the closed diagram property of the mappings in our results as considered by Ray (Theorem 4). In another section we give a generalization of a result of Bernfeld et al. for fixed points of operators on Banach spaces.
