The Bondi-Sachs formulation of gravitational radiation from a bounded source considered radiation with shear. But amongst Robinson-Trautman metrics are some corresponding to bounded sources and shear-free radiation. Here the theory is reformulated with both shearing and shear- free radiation present. The space-time is asymptotically flat but not asymptotically Minkowski, and the asymptotic symmetry group contains the BMS group as a proper subgroup.
