Let C(R,R) be the set of continuous real valued functions with compact- open topology. We consider a flow \(\eta\) on C(R,R) defined by \(\eta (f,t)=f_ t\) for (f,t)\(\in C(R,R)\times R\), where \(f_ t(s)=f(t+s)\) for \(s\in R\). A function \(f\in C(R,R)\) is called an almost automorphic function if for every sequence \(\{t_ n\}\subset R\) there exists a subsequence \(\{t_{n_ k}\}\subset \{t_ n\}\) such that \(f_{t_{n_ k}}\to g\) and \(g_{-t_{n_ k}}\to f\) as \(k\to \infty\). We obtain the following theorem: \(f\in C(R,R)\) is an almost automorphic function if and only if there exist a non-trivial equicontinuous minimal flow \(\rho\) on Y, a real valued function \(\Phi\) on Y and \(y\in Y\) satisfying the following conditions: (1) \(\Phi\) is continuous on the orbit of \(\rho\) through y with respect to the relative topology. (2) \(f(t)=\Phi (\phi (y,t))\) for \(t\in R\). (3) f is bounded and uniformly continuous on R.
