This paper deals with the problem of an infinite cylinder embedded into another infinite elastic medium having an external crack. The crack is assumed to be opened by internal pressure and the plane of the crack is perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder. Both the media are homogeneous and isotropic. Representations for displacement and stress are given in terms of suitable harmonic and biharmonic functions, which satisfy the equations of elastic equilibrium. Mixed boundary conditions lead to dual integral equations. These equations are reduced to Fredholm integral equation of the second kind, which have been solved numerically. Certain quantities of physical interest are also evaluated.
