Two semi-infinite bulk fluids are separated by a plane horizontal immiscible surfactant layer, and a solid, immersed in one of the bulk phases, rotates slowly and steadily about an axis of symmetry perpendicular to the interface. The boundary-value problem in the Stokes approximation for the azimuthal fluid velocity field is reduced to the solution of a Fredholm integral equation of the first kind, and approximations are calculated for the couple on the rotating disk a governing Fredholm integral equation of the second kind is derived, which is solved numerically for a range of values of h, the depth of the disk beneath the surface, \(\mu\), the ratio of the bulk-phase viscosities, and \(\eta\), the coefficient of surface shear viscosity of the interfacial layer. Numerical and graphical results are presented for the resistive torque on the disk, and the interfacial velocity profile.
