A random measure \(\Xi\) on a locally compact group X is said to be homogeneous (\(\Delta\)-homogeneous) if, for every \(x\in X\), the left- translation by the element x leaves the distribution of \(\Xi\) invariant (changes the distribution to that of \(\Delta\) (x)\(\Xi\), where \(\Delta\) is the modular function of X). The main results proved are local and global ergodic theorems for homogeneous or \(\Delta\)-homogeneous random measures. The local theorems assert for homogeneous \(\Xi\) the almost sure or mean convergence, under appropriate hypotheses, of sequences of the form \(\mu (U_ n)^{-1}\Xi (xU_ n)\), where \(x\in X\), \(\mu\) is the left Haar measure of X and \(\{U_ n\), \(n=1,2,...\}\) is a so-called D-sequence of sets converging to the identity e of X. The global theorems assert for an amenable X and a \(\Delta\)-homogeneous \(\Xi\) the convergence of \({\bar \mu}\)(A\({}_ n)^{-1}\Xi (A_ n)\), where \({\bar \mu}\) is the right Haar measure and \(\{A_ n\), \(n=1,2,...\}\) an ''ergodic'' net of sets in X.
