Factorial design and Abelian groups (Q1071450)

This paper primarily deals with the applications of the theory of finite Abelian groups in simplifying the search for as well as the construction of factorial designs. The main result of this paper shows how the decomposition of a finite Abelian group into a direct sum of its Sylow subgroups can be used to simplify many design problems. Thus considering Abelian groups of prime-power order, and specializing these results to fractional replicates and blocked single replicates it is shown that problems in designs for general finite Abelian groups may be reduced to similar problems for elementary Abelian groups.
