Collocation methods using piecewise polynomials for second kind integral equations (Q1071486)

The author considers the numerical solution of second kind Fredholm integral equations by using the collocation method and its iterated variant. The approximate solution is sought in the space of continuous piecewise polynomials of order r; the collocation points are taken to be the knots plus the r-2 Lobatto points shifted on each subinterval. Superconvergence results for the corresponding iterated collocation solution are given in this paper. Some numerical results are also given.
