We show that the general bisymmetric polynomials \(^ m_{\mu}G_ q^{(n)}(\gamma_ 1,...,\gamma_ n;\delta_ 1,...,\delta_ m)\) are a limiting case of the bisymmetric, invariant polynomials \(^ n_{\mu}G_ q^{(n)}(\gamma_ 1,...,\gamma_ n;\delta_ 1,...,\delta_ n)\) which characterize U(n) tensor operators \(<p,q,...,q,0,...,0>\). By taking suitable limits of a pair of difference equations for \(^ n_{\mu}G_ q^{(n)}(\gamma;\delta)\) we then deduce ''transposition symmetry'' for \(^ m_{\mu}G_ q^{(n)}(\gamma;\delta)\) from the same symmetry for \(^ n_{\mu}G_ q^{(n)}(\gamma,\delta)\). As an application of transposition symmetry for \(^ m_{\mu}G_ q^{(n)}(\gamma,\delta)\) we derive an elegant, new continuous relation for classical, well-poised hypergeometric series, and also prove an identity between these series and multiple hypergeometric series well- poised in SU(n).
