Let H be the operator in Hilbert space \({\mathcal H}\) such that \(tr(| H|^{2p})<\infty\), \(p=1,2,3,... \). The author proves the estimate \[ tr(| [H-z)B+H/z]^ p|^ 2)\leq \dim Ker(H-z) \] for any nonzero complex z and every operator B such that \(tr(| B|^{2p})<\infty.\) Using the above estimate the following bound on the dimension of eigenspaces of the Schrödinger operators in \(L^ 2({\mathbb{R}}^ 3)\) is obtained \[ dm Ker(-\Delta +V+\kappa^ 2)\leq tr(| [W_{\kappa}- 1)B+W_{\kappa}]^ p|^ 2, \] where \(W_{\kappa}=| V|^{1/2}(-\Delta +\kappa^ 2)^{-1}| V|^{1/2}sgn V\), \(\kappa >0\), \(V\in R+L^{2p}({\mathbb{R}}^ 3)\), R is the Rollnik class. In the case \(B=0\), \(p=1\) this bound coincides with the well known Birman- Schwinger bound. An algorithm for the optimization of the bound is proposed.
