On the basis of a phenomenological, fully nonlinear model previously obtained [see the review above (Zbl 0587.73159)], the authors study some problems of bulk and surface wave propagation in elastic piezo semi- conductors subjected to an intense bias electric field, with the aim of exhibiting the dynamical couplings between various elastic modes and electric properties, that may appear as a result of breaking of the ''natural symmetry'' of the medium due to the bias field. A detailed study of bulk modes is carried out in the two cases when the bias field is set parallel or perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation. Surface wave modes are also investigated for a transverse setting of the bias field. Some numerical estimates are presented for the influence of conduction on the penetration depth, dispersion and attenuation of the wave. In particular, the authors conclude that conduction may be neglected in practical applications insofar as the penetration depth and dispersion are concerned.
