On the unitability of a class of partially ordered rings that have squares positive (Q1073061)

Considerably extending previously known results, the author shows that an \(\ell\)-ring with squares positive which has an f-superunit can be embedded in a unital po-ring with squares positive; modulo the nil radical, it can be embedded in an \(\ell\)-ring of that type. An application is developed to the generalized semigroup and power series rings of \textit{P. Conrad} and \textit{P. McCarthy} [Math. Nachr. 58, 169-191 (1973; Zbl 0276.06016)].
