This paper considers asymptotic properties of solutions of \[ (1)\quad u_ t+c(x)u_ x=\lambda f(x,u)u,\quad u(0,x)=v(x). \] For sufficiently large \(\lambda\), the author proves that the behavior of solutions to (1) is turbulent for a dense subset of initial functions in a class V, where \[ V=\{v: [0,L]\to {\mathbb{R}}_+\quad continuous:\quad \limsup_{x\to 0} v(x)/x<\infty \}. \] For \(\lambda\) small, the solutions to (1) are converging to zero as \(t\to \infty\). The proof uses a construction of a large class of turbulent functions based on methods of ergodic theory of dynamical systems on compact manifolds.
