The author considers one of the many possible models for the freezing of a one-dimensional supercooled pure material; the velocity of the free boundary is taken to be a convex function of the supercooling, i.e., the difference between the actual phase change temperature. This model has no obvious weak formulation, but a proof is described which uses little- known methods to obtain existence and uniqueness results. It would be nice to see the status of this paper compared to the standard results on the conventional Stefan problem, but no reference to these results is given.
