On the continuity of interface stresses in Kandaurov's granular medium (Q1073643)

This paper discusses some problems connected with a static field of stresses in a horizontally layered particulate medium whose properties are described as a function \(K=K(z)\) called the lateral pressure coefficient. The Kandaurov's model and some its modifications have been presented with the purpose to describe the successive propagation of vertical forces in the loose medium interior. The conditions of stresses continuity have been formulated and some conclusions have been drawn about the correctness of Kandaurov's approach. Basing on some properties of stochastic integral and employing the equations of equilibrium the general solutions of the problem have been given in the last part of this paper.
