The number of embeddings of integral quadratic forms. I (Q1073825)

The goal of the paper under review is to count the number of equivalence classes of primitive embeddings from a nondegenerate integral quadratic lattice M into an indefinite unimodular integral quadratic lattice L. The number of such equivalence classes is expressed in terms of a certain invariant of the orthogonal complement of M in L. The proof uses some of the arguments of \textit{V. V. Nikulin} [Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 43, 111-177 (1979; Zbl 0408.10011)].
