The following theorem and corollary are proved in this paper. Theorem: If G is a connected, type I solvable Lie group, then there exists a composition series \[ A=C^*(G)=I_{\alpha}\supset I_{\alpha - 1}\supset...\supset I_ 1\supset I_ 0=\{0\} \] of finite length such that \(I_ j/I_{j-1}\) is liminary and such that the set of functions in \(C_ c^{\infty}(G)\) which are mapped to trace class operators by each irreducible representation of \(A/I_{j-1}\) is dense in \(I_ j\) for \(j=1,2,...,\alpha.\) Corollary: If G and A are as above then the canonical composition series of A has finite length.
