All spaces are separable and metrizable and Q denotes the Hilbert cube. Let X be a space. The subspace of C(X,Q) consisting of all embeddings of X into Q will be denoted by E(X,Q). A subset A of C(X,Q) is called residual if its complement is a first category set. In this interesting paper the author characterizes, among other things, the spaces X having the property that \(\{\) \(h\in E(X,Q):\) dim(\(\overline{h(X)}\setminus h(X))\leq n\}\) is a residual set; they turn out to be those spaces X for which there exists a compact set K such that dim(X\(\setminus K)\leq n\). In addition, she also characterizes the spaces X having the property that \(\{\) \(h\in E(X,Q):\) \(\overline{h(X)}\setminus h(X)\) is countable dimensional\(\}\) is residual; they turn out to be those spaces X that contain a compact subset K such that \(\dim (X\setminus U)<\infty\) for every open subset U of X containing K.
