In this paper g runs over all classical simple Lie algebras over \({\mathbb{C}}\) and G is the Lie group of any normal real form of g. Sets of left-invariant vector fields on G are constructed which are uniformly controllable in a minimal number of switches namely the dimension of the group minus one. A set of vector fields on a differentiable manifold M is said to be uniformly controllable if there exists a non-negative integer N such that every pair (p,q) of points of M can be joined by a trajectory of that set which involves at most N switches.
