The authors have evolved new approximation equations for boundary-layer flow on curved surfaces. A new set of second-order boundary-layer equations is derived for steady incompressible two-dimensional or axisymmetric flow. These new equations give more accurate results for wide range of thick laminar or turbulent shear layer flows when compared with commonly used approximation equations. Illustration is given in two case studies. One is the laminar flow past a body with a longitudinal curvature. Second is the turbulent flow over an axisymmetric body with strong longitudinal and transverse curvatures.
