In the present paper the authors consider the steady laminar boundary layer flow of an incompressible micropolar fluid past a vertical flat plate-placed in an external uniform flow. The effects of viscous dissipation and the micropolar heat conduction have been neglected. The equations governing the flow are transformated into new coordinates with a finite domain. A numerical solution of the system subject to the initial and the boundary conditions is obtained by converting them into a set of implicit finite-difference equations of the Crank-Nicholson type. The velocity gradient and the temperature gradient on the surface used in the expressions for skin-friction coefficient and heat transfer coefficient are determined. The effect of variation of Gr (Grashof number) on the velocity field and on the temperature field is investigated. The results presented are compared with the corresponding results for a Newtonian fluid.
