The author introduces a class of isocompact spaces (called k-neat spaces) which includes many previously investigated classes of such spaces, e.g., spaces having \(\theta\) L [\textit{S. W. Davis}, Pac. J. Math. 80, 359-370 (1979; Zbl 0373.54019)] weakly \([\omega_ 1,\infty)^ r\)-refinable spaces [\textit{J. M. Worrell} jun. and \textit{H. H. Wicke}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 79, 331-334 (1980; Zbl 0433.54010)] and pure spaces [\textit{A. V. Arkhangel'skij}, Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 251, 1033-1037 (1980; Zbl 0485.54020)], among others. The definition of k-neat involves several conditions on free closed ultrafilters having the countable intersection property and is too lengthy to state here. In addition to establishing that various classes of isocompact spaces are included in the class of k- neat spaces the author proves the following theorems. (1) Every \(\omega_ 1\)-compact \(\omega_ 1\)-neat \(T_ 1\)-space is \(\alpha\)-real compact. (2) Let f be a closed continuous mapping from a space X with a k-neat space Y. If each fiber of f is Lindlöf, then X is k-neat. The author also gives an example of an \(\omega\)-neat space which does not belong to any of the isocompact classes mentioned above.
