    It is perhaps rather surprising that a variety of groups defined by commutator identities with independent entries can have proper p-torsion, but such examples have already been given by the present author in part I [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 15, 239-246 (1983; Zbl 0487.20026)]. Here he gives examples of such varieties which have proper \(\pi\)-torsion for any finite set \(\pi\) of primes.
