Let D be the unit disc or the upper half plane in the complex plane. A sequence \(\{z_ n\}\) in D is said to be separated, uniformly separated, consecutively separated (respectively) if \[ (i)\quad \inf_{n\neq m}\chi (z_ n,z_ m)>0;\quad (ii)\quad \inf_{n}\prod_{k=1,k\neq n}\chi (z_ n,z_ k)>0; \] \[ (iii)\quad \inf_{n}\chi (z_ n,z_{n+1})>0\quad (respectively), \] where \(\chi\) (z,w) is the pseudo- hyperbolic distance in D. It is now well-known that (ii) is a necessary and sufficient condition for a sequence \(\{z_ n\}\) to be an interpolating sequence for \(H^{\infty}(D):\) the space of bounded analytic functions on D. The authors give geometric conditions on curves L in D, which imply that any separated or consecutively separated sequence in L is an interpolating sequence for \(H^{\infty}(D)\). As for the former case, several characterizations of such curves are given by \textit{E. A. Gerber} and \textit{M. L. Weiss} [J. Math. Soc. Japan 34, 173-185 (1982; Zbl 0498.30043)]. The authors give a geometric condition, using their result [\textit{C. L. Belna} and the authors, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 88, 469-475 (1983; Zbl 0549.30024)], for the latter case, they also give equivalent analytic conditions, several sufficient conditions, and some applications.
