The author considers the nonlinear differential equation \[ (1)\quad \frac{d^ 2x}{dt^ 2}+2\lambda \frac{dx}{dt}+\lambda^ 2x=\epsilon f(x), \] where \(\epsilon\) is a small parameter, \(\lambda\) is a positive real number and f is a nonlinear function. He develops a new asymptotic method, based on the work of Krylov, Bogolyubov and Mitropol'skij, to find an approximate solution of (1). This method is illustrated by an example.
