The space of Bloch functions, denoted by \({\mathcal B}\), consists of those functions f analytic in \(\{| z| <1\}\) for which \[ \| f\|_{{\mathcal B}} = | f(0)| + \sup_{| z| <1}(1-| z|^ 2)| f'(z)| <\infty. \] \textit{N.G. Makarov} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 51, 369--384 (1985; Zbl 0573.30029)] has recently proved that if \(f\in {\mathcal B}\) and \(0<p<\infty\) \[ \int^{\pi}_{-\pi} | f(re^{i\theta})|^ p d\theta = O((\log \frac{1}{1-r})^{p/2}), \text{ as }r\to1, \tag{1} \] and has studied the radial growth of these functions showing \[ | f(re^{i\theta})| = O((\log \frac{1}{1-r}\log\log\log \frac{1}{1-r})^{1/2}), \text{ as }r\to 1, \tag{2} \] almost everywhere. Both results are sharp. We obtain the analogues of Makarov's results for two subclasses of \({\mathcal B}\) denoted by \({\mathcal B}_ 0\) and \({\mathcal B}_ 1\). The space \({\mathcal B}_ 0\) consists of those \(f\in {\mathcal B}\) such that \[ | f'(z)| = o((1-| z|)^{-1}), \text{ as }| z| \to 1, \] and \({\mathcal B}_ 1\) consists of those \(f\in {\mathcal B}\) such that if \(| z_ n| <1\) and \(| f(z_ n)| \to \infty\) then \((1-| z_ n|^ 2)| f'(z_ n)| \to 0.\) Clearly, \({\mathcal B}_ 0\subset {\mathcal B}_ 1.\) We prove that if \(f\in {\mathcal B}_ 1\) then ''O'' can be replaced by ''o'' in (1) and (2) and give examples which show that these estimates are sharp even in \({\mathcal B}_ 0\).
