Contributions of Géza Freud to the theory of rational approximation of functions (Q1078452)

This paper gives a very nice review of the results on best rational approximation proved by Géza Freud, along with some subsequent refinements by other mathematicians (covering the period 1964-1977). It must not go unmentioned that the method introduced by Freud in 1966 left its traces long after his untimely death.
