The importance of links between prime ideals in the theory of localization of noncommutative Noetherian rings is now well established, see the book by \textit{A. V. Jategaonkar} [Localization in Noetherian rings (Lond. Math. Soc. Lect. Note Ser. 98, 1986; Zbl 0589.16014)]. For the reader wishing to understand this theory it is helpful to have available in the literature studies of the links between prime ideals in familiar concrete examples of rings. The paper under review contains an analysis of the links between prime ideals in a ring of formal differential operators R[\(\theta\) ;\(\delta\) ] over a commutative Noetherian ring R containing the rational numbers. For a prime ideal Q of R[\(\theta\) ;\(\delta\) ] the largest right Ore set contained in \({\mathcal C}(Q)\) is shown to be the intersection of \({\mathcal C}(P)\) where P belongs to the right clique of Q, that is the smallest set X of prime ideals which contains Q and is such that all prime ideals linked to elements of X are in X.
