The Cauchy problem for the nonlinear modified complex Korteweg-de Vries equation \[ u_ t+6| u|^ 2 u_ x+u_{xxx}=0,\quad x\in {\mathbb{R}},\quad t\geq 0 \] with initial data \(u(x,0)=g(x)\in H^ s({\mathbb{R}})\), \(s\geq 2\) is shown to have a unique global solution. The solution has the property of orbital stability. It means that given \(\epsilon >0\) there exists \(\delta >0\) so that \(d(u,\phi)<\epsilon\) for all \(t\in [0,\infty)\) if \(d(u,\phi)|_{t=0}<\delta\). Here d(u,\(\phi)\) is a pseudometrics \[ \inf_{(\eta,\xi)\in {\mathbb{R}}^ 2}\| u(x,t)-\exp (i\omega \eta)\phi (x-\xi,t)\|_ 1, \] \(\phi\) (x,t) is a 2-parametric solitary wave type solution.
