The method consists in the following: The highest derivative occuring in the ODE is replaced by its Chebyshev interpolant. Provided that the derivatives up to the highest one are sufficiently smooth functions, their integrals i.e. the derivatives of lower orders (up to 0-th order) at the Chebyshev points may be obtained approximately by simple linear transformations. So, the ODE is replaced by a system of linear equations with respect to the values of the highest derivative at the collocation points. The boundary conditions can be satisfied simultaneously. Two problems demonstrate the effectiveness of the method: the plane Poiseuille flow and the Blasius boundary layer flow. Both of them are boundary value problems posed for the Orr-Sommerfeld equation.
