Phase-locked and synchronous oscillations of identical chemical oscillators with identical diffusional coupling between adjacent cells are analyzed. For this purpose N cells coupled in a ring and each cell providing the scene for a complex chemical reaction with m chemical species are described by the system of differential equations \[ \dot u^ j_ i=d_{-1,i}u_ i^{j-1}-d_{o,i}u^ j_ i+d_{1,i}u_ i^{j\quad +1}+f_ i(u^ j;\mu); \] \[ 1\leq i\leq m;\quad 1\leq j\leq N;\quad u^ 0_ i=u^ N_ i;\quad u^ 1_ i=u_ i^{N+1}\quad for\quad all\quad i, \] where \(u^ j_ i(t)\) is the concentration of the ith species at time t in the j th cell. Global bifurcations of phase-locked solutions from a uniform steady state are studied. (It turns out that when the number of cells is a multiple of 4, one can find solutions with non-uniform phase differences between adjacent cells.) Phase-locking is both characteristic of the branch and determined by linear analysis. The bifurcation criteria are detailed for systems of coupled Brusselators and it is shown that the criteria for global branching of phase-locked solutions are obeyed in general.
