Representation theory of Weyl group of type \(C_n\) (Q1079652)

The irreducible representations of the Weyl group of type \(C_n\) are constructed using the horizontal and vertical permutation subgroups associated with pairs of Young tableaux. A recursive formula for the irreducible characters is also given. As a by-product, the \(I\)-set of the \(W\)-graph of \(W(C_n)\) is determined in terms of pairs of Young tableaux. ADDED IN PROOF. This construction of the representation of \(W(C_n)\) was written in the author's master thesis (1980). But we found that essentially the same construction technique was used in [7]. [6] A.
