Jeffrey's equations for the propagation of weak discontinuities are applied to a nonlinear second order equation and the results are shown to be in agreement (after correction of a slight miscalculation) with a previous study of \textit{P. J. Chen} [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 43, 982-987 (1968)]. It has to be so indeed for we proved together with \textit{T. Ruggeri} that Jeffrey's equations are equivalent to the one-dimensional case of the well-known Bernoulli evolution law.
