This paper deals with a horseshoe type map \(F: D^ 2\to D^ 2\), where \(D^ 2=I\times I\cup A\cup B\), \(I=[0,1]\), A and B are half disks attached to opposite sides \(\{\) \(0\}\times I\) and \(\{\) \(1\}\times I\) of the square \(I\times I\). The map F is defined axiomatically to be a homeomorphism (into) having prescribed properties. This map F induces a continuous map \(f: I\to I\). If we denote \((I,f)=\{(x_ 0,x_ 1,...)\); \(x_ i\in I\) and \(f(x_{i+1})=x_ i\), \(i=0,1,...\}\), then (I,f) is inverse limit space associated with f, which is metrizable in the usual way. The relation of the attracting set of the horseshoe map F to space (I,f) is studied and the topological properties of the attracting sets are investigated also.
