Let C(X) denote the ring of continuous real valued functions on a completely regular Hausdorff space X, let E(X) denote the ring of Baire functions on X, and let D(X) denote the ring of Baire class one functions on X. We find analogues for D(X) and E(X) of theorems concerning C(X) and realcompact spaces X. Sample theorems: Let F be a nonnegative linear functional on D(X) or E(X) where X is realcompact. Then F is a linear combination of finitely many point evaluations. Let X be realcompact. Then a nonnegative linear functional F on C(X) can be extended to a nonnegative linear functional on E(X) if and only if F is continuous on C(X) in the topology of pointwise convergence. There is at most one such extension.
