The author considers the following nonlinear initial-boundary value problem for a quasilinear hyperbolic system: (P) \[ \partial_ tu=\sum^{n}_{j=1}A_ j(u)\partial_{x_ j}u+E(u)u+F,\quad in\quad (0,T)\times \Omega;\quad u(0)=0,\quad P(u)u|_{\partial \Omega}=g. \] Let \(K\geq 2[n/2]+6\), \((F,g)\in H^ K(R_+;\Omega)\times H^ K(R_+;\partial \Omega)\), and their traces at \(t=0\) are zero up to the order K-1. If for \(u=0\), the problem (P) at \(t=0\) is a Kreiss hyperbolic system, and the boundary conditions satisfy the uniform Lopatinsky criteria, then there exists a \(T>0\) such that (P) has a unique \(H^ K\) solution in (0,T). The paper ends with an appendix where the author discusses the relation between the Kreiss' well-posedness and the stable admissibility of the noncharacteristic initial boundary value problems for the Kreiss symmetric hyperbolic system.
