Let K be a local field of characteristic 0 with the algebraically closed residue field of characteristic \(p>0\), V a semi-simple Hodge-Tate module over K with \(V_{{\mathbb{C}}}={\mathbb{C}}\otimes_{Q_ p}V=V_{{\mathbb{C}}}(0)\oplus V_ C(1)\), \(n_ 0=\dim V_ C(0)\geq 1\) and \(n_ 1=\dim V_ C(1)\geq 1\), \(H_ V\) the algebraic group attached to V, \(H^ 0_ V\) the neutral component of \(H_ V\), \({\mathfrak g}_ V\) the Lie algebra of \(H_ V\). Serre has proved that \(H_ V=GL_ V\) if \(n_ 0\) and \(n_ 1\) are relatively prime and if V is an absolutely simple \({\mathfrak g}_ V\)-module, and also remarked the possibility of determination of the structure of \(H^ 0_ V\) for other cases. For example, he has proved that all irreducible components of the root system of \(H^ 0_ V\) are of type A,B,C or D and furthermore they are of type A if V is irreducible of odd dimension. [cf. \textit{J.-P. Serre}; Proc. Conf. Local fields 1966, 118-131 (1967; Zbl 0189.029) and Astérisque 65, 155-187 (1979; Zbl 0446.20028)]. In this paper, the author shows that all the irreducible components of the root system of \(H^ 0_ V\) are of type A if \(n_ 0\neq n_ 1\) and if V is an absolutely simple \({\mathfrak g}_ V\)-module.
