On an effective algorithm for minimizing generalized Trefftz functionals of linear elasticity theory (Q1082850)

A Lagrangian functional is constructed to get the minimum of the generalized Trefftz functional of the three-dimensional linear elasticity. The existence of the saddle point of Lagrangian functional is proven and the interpretation of Lagrange multiplier is given. An algorithm is proposed for searching for the saddle point in coordinate functions. The coordinate functions satisfy the equilibrium equations in generalized sense, those are not subjected to any constraints in the domain and on the boundary. The convergence of the sequence of approximation is proven.
