    Equip the connected, pointed spaces X,Y with disjoint base points to form \(X^+,Y^+\). Let \(D_ n(X^+)\) be the extended power construction on \(X^+\). The nth Dyer-Lashof structure map for \(QX=\Omega^{\infty} \Sigma^{\infty} X\) induces a map \(D_ n(X^+)\to QX\) which induces, in turn, an infinite loop map \(QD_ n(X^+)\to QX\). Now \(QD_ n(X^+)\) is naturally equivalent to \(D_ n(\Sigma^{\infty} X\vee S)\), \(S=\Sigma^{\infty} S^ 0\). Let us - as the author does not - call the resulting composite \(\theta_ X\), \(\theta_ X: D_ n(\Sigma^{\infty} X\vee S)\simeq QD_ n(X^+)\to QX\). This note proves that \(\theta_ X\) is natural in the following sense. If \(\phi\) : \(\Sigma\) \({}^{\infty} X\to \Sigma^{\infty} Y\) is a stable map, then \((\Omega^{\infty} \phi)\theta_ X=\theta_ Y(\Omega^{\infty} D_ n(\phi \vee 1))\) up to homotopy and as infinite loop spaces.
